Hey, I'm Laura - a freelance, self-employed copywriter for UK charities and non-profits.

"Why charity copywriting?"

I'm passionate about writing and making a positive impact in our society.

In 2015, I started my career in charity communications, volunteering for a mental health charity in East London alongside studying for a degree in linguistics. When I graduated in 2017, I contracted for national charities, such as Citizens Advice, the British Red Cross, Independent Age, and the public sector.

I made the jump to fully freelance charity comms in 2020, before specialising in charity copywriting in 2023.

Since then, I've worked for charity communications, brand and marketing teams - small and large - so I understand the challenges faced by busy charity people like you!

For over 10 years, I have created content for UK charities, reaching over 100,000 people! 💥

  • Digital Woman For Good 2023 & 2024, Finalist

  • Digital Woman Freelancer of the Year 2023, Finalist

  • IPSE Young Freelancer of the Year 2022, Shortlisted

I help you attract more supporters, donors and fundraisers, driving website traffic and increasing income for your charity.

Small briefs, ad-hoc copywriting for charities to longer term projects. Whatever you need really!

✍🏻 I write, edit and proofread charity emails (my fave!), fundraising appeals and direct mail, case studies, blogs, articles, leaflets and social media copy.

💻 In-person or remote interviewing is available on request (such as for case studies or annual reports).

The legal and technical stuff.

1. All projects are based on our agreed deadlines!

2. If we're working together on a bigger project, I'll usually invite you to sign a pretty standard freelancer contract to protect us both.

3. Some charities want to know if I am insured. Yes, I am - I have professional indemnity cover for £1,000,000 and public liability for £2,000,000 through AXA and PolicyBee.

4. My payment terms are preferably 14 days, but I can do 30 days for larger charities. I usually invoice 50% before a project, and the remaining 50% once it's all signed off with you. ✅
